Pranab Mukherjee breathed his last at the age of 84

Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee breathed his last on Monday at the age of 84. His son Abhijit Mukherjee made the announcement on social media.

“With a Heavy Heart , this is to inform you that my father Shri #PranabMukherjee has just passed away inspite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers ,duas & prarthanas from people throughout India ! I thank all of You,” Abhijit tweeted.

The 84-year old Congress veteran was being treated for lung infection at the Army Research and Referral hospital. He underwent critical brain surgery at the hospital to remove a clot after he suffered a fall at his Rajaji Marg residence on August 10. He is on ventilator support since then.

He had also tested positive for the coronavirus at the time of his admission followed by a respiratory infection.
