Phansidewa, 08th May: A major road accident occurred on National Highway-27 near Ghoshpukur in Phansidewa after a government passenger bus collided with a goods-laden lorry, leaving more than 25 people injured.
According to information, the bus was travelling from Islampur to Siliguri when the accident took place while it was attempting to merge onto the highway. The collision with the lorry caused a severe impact, injuring the bus driver and around 25 passengers. The lorry driver and his assistant were also injured in the incident.
All the injured were immediately shifted to Phansidewa Rural Hospital for treatment. The lorry driver was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle after the crash and was rescued with the help of police and local residents.
Police have seized both the bus and the lorry involved in the accident. Six of the critically injured persons have been referred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for advanced medical care. An investigation into the incident is underway.
