Phansidewa, 13th June: Ainul Haque, Karmadhyaksha of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad and a prominent Trinamool Congress leader from Phansidewa, was found hanging at his residence on Saturday morning, triggering grief across the area.
According to sources, Haque was found hanging inside his house. He had previously served as the Pradhan of Bansgaon Gram Panchayat and also held the post of Karmadhyaksha of the Phansidewa Panchayat Samiti. He was currently serving as a Karmadhyaksha of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad.
Sources said that he had recently suffered a stroke and had been unwell for some time. Police suspect that mental stress may have played a role in the incident, though the exact circumstances are yet to be determined.
