Zero-tolerance drive against illegal sand and soil smuggling: Three soil-laden tractors seized in Phansidewa

Phansidewa, 29th May: Acting on a zero-tolerance policy against illegal sand and soil smuggling, Darjeeling district police seized three soil-laden tractors during an operation in the Nirakhingach area of Chathat region under Phansidewa.

According to police sources, the tractors were allegedly involved in illegal soil transportation in violation of government directives. Based on information, Phansidewa Police conducted a raid in the area and intercepted the vehicles.

On seeing the police, the tractor drivers managed to flee from the spot. Subsequently, all three vehicles were seized and taken to the police station.

Police have initiated an investigation to identify others involved in the illegal soil smuggling network operating in the area.
