Naxalbari, 05th June: Police arrested two youths and seized 26 bottles of banned cough syrup during an anti-drug operation in Naxalbari.

According to police sources, local residents noticed two youths leaving a suspected drug den in Naxalbari late at night and alerted Naxalbari Police Station.

Acting on the information, police launched an operation and intercepted the duo on the Asian Highway at Bengai Jote area of Naxalbari.

During the search, police recovered a total of 26 bottles of banned cough syrup, with 13 bottles allegedly found in the possession of each accused.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Suraj Sharma and Sujoy Pal, both residents of Station Para in Naxalbari.

Police have seized the recovered cough syrup and registered a case under the NDPS Act. The accused are scheduled to be produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court.

Police said further investigation is underway to determine whether others were involved in the case. Officials also stated that anti-drug drives would continue regularly as part of efforts to make Naxalbari drug-free.
