Multi-crore fraud case accused Tanmay Pal arrested in Siliguri, taken on transit remand

Siliguri, 16th June: In a major development in a multi-crore fraud case, Chakdaha Police, with assistance from Siliguri Metropolitan Police, arrested the prime accused Tanmay Pal from a private hospital in Siliguri. He was produced before a Siliguri court on Tuesday, which granted a two-day transit remand.

According to police, the accused is expected to provide crucial information regarding transactions worth crores of rupees, the methods used in the alleged fraud, and the involvement of other members of the network during interrogation.

Sources said that on 05th June 2026, Ranjit Duha lodged a complaint at Chakdaha Police Station against Tanmay Pal, alleging cheating after being lured with promises related to an internet service business. During the investigation, Chakdaha Police reached Siliguri and detained the accused about a week ago.

He was later admitted to a private hospital in Siliguri after his health deteriorated during the operation and remained under police supervision. Following improvement in his condition, police formally arrested him from the hospital and subsequently took him on transit remand.
