Tree plantation drive held in Naxalbari on World Environment Day under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign

Naxalbari, 05th June: On the occasion of World Environment Day, a tree plantation programme was organised in Naxalbari under the theme ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, jointly conducted by the Kurseong Forest Department and the Naxalbari Block Administration.

State MoS Anandamay Barman participated in the programme and planted saplings, calling for collective efforts towards environmental conservation.

The event was attended by the Naxalbari BDO, Panchayat Samiti chairman, opposition leader, and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said environmental protection is a shared concern and everyone must come forward to contribute towards it. He added that the programme is being observed across the state in line with the Prime Minister’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative.

He further stated that a target of planting one crore trees has been set for the coming year, and a large-scale campaign will be undertaken to achieve it.
