Trailer-container collision in Bagdogra leaves driver injured on Asian Highway

Bagdogra, 23rd May: A head-on collision between a stone-laden trailer and a parcel-loaded container occurred early Saturday morning on the Asian Highway under Sanyasi Tea Garden area in Bagdogra, leaving the trailer driver seriously injured.

According to information, the trailer was en route from Bhutan to Bihar, while the container was coming towards Siliguri. The two heavy vehicles collided violently in the Sanyasi Tea Garden area.

Trailer driver sustained serious injuries in the accident. Following the crash, traffic on the Asian Highway was severely disrupted, causing a major jam in the area.

Upon receiving information, Bagdogra Police reached the spot and worked for a long time to remove both vehicles from the road, after which traffic movement was restored.

Reports suggest that the container driver fled from the spot after the accident. Police suspect that the crash may have occurred due to drowsiness while driving.
