Lorry rams into passenger bus in Bagdogra, several injured

Bagdogra, 14th June: Several people were injured after a lorry rammed into the rear of a stationary long-distance passenger bus in the Upper Bagdogra area along the Bagdogra-Siliguri National Highway on Sunday morning.

According to reports, the bus was travelling from Patna to Siliguri and had stopped in the Upper Bagdogra area to allow some passengers to disembark. At that moment, a lorry approaching from behind reportedly crashed into the bus with considerable force.

The collision left several bus passengers injured, while the co-driver of the lorry sustained critical injuries. Local residents, along with personnel from Bagdogra Police Station and the traffic department, rushed to the scene and launched rescue operations.

The injured were taken to Bagdogra Hospital for treatment. Hospital sources said that the bus passengers were discharged after receiving first aid, while the lorry’s co-driver remains admitted in serious condition.

Meanwhile, police have seized both vehicles involved in the accident and initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
