World Elephant Day observed in Bagdogra with awareness programmes

Bagdogra, 12th August: World Elephant Day was observed at Bangdubi Forest Bhavan in Bagdogra through a series of programmes organised by Nature Help Organisation in collaboration with the Kurseong Forest Division.

The event was attended by Kurseong DFO Debesh Pandey, ADFO, range officers from eight ranges, forest personnel and members of Nature Help Organisation.

As part of the programme, students were made aware of the importance of elephants and their role in maintaining ecological balance. Around 40 forest personnel involved in monitoring elephant movements were felicitated for their work.

Kurseong DFO Debesh Pandey said elephants play an important role in maintaining environmental balance. He added that modern technology is being used to reduce human-elephant conflict, which has helped bring down the number of deaths.

Pandey further expressed hope that human-elephant conflict could be brought down to zero in the coming days.
