In another blow for the Trinamool Congress, Bengali film actor-turned-politician Debashree Roy, who won twice from the Raidighi constituency of South 24 Parganas withdrew from the party on Monday. She sent her resignation letter to party general secretary Subrata Bakshi. However, the TMC’s response to this is not yet known.

Speculations were being raised regarding her departure from the party ever since her name did not appear in the candidate list of the Trinamool party for the assembly elections. However, the MLA has not given any reasons for her sudden take-off in her resignation letter. Rather, she expressed gratitude towards the party for letting her be of service for such a long period.
