Rajganj, 02nd June: Two teenagers drowned while bathing in a canal in a tragic incident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon near Paromunda along the Fulbari–Gajoldoba Teesta Canal Road.

The deceased have been identified as Deep Biswas and Krishna Mandal, both residents of the Ambikanagar area under Fulbari.

According to local sources, four friends had gone from Ambikanagar to the Teesta sub-canal at Paromunda on bicycles for bathing. During the bath, Deep and Krishna entered the water and suddenly began to drown. Their two companions raised an alarm, following which local residents rushed to the spot and informed the authorities.

Police from Bhorer Alo Police Station and Gajoldoba Outpost reached the spot and launched a search operation with the help of locals. Both bodies were later recovered from the water and sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, and police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
