Siliguri, 21st January: In a significant initiative to improve the city’s infrastructure, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb held a meeting with local business associations and officials of West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) on Monday.

The meeting was followed by a site inspection at the Bidhan Nagar Market area. The inspection aimed to review the existing overhead power lines and cable network to transform them into underground cables. The move is expected to reduce the risk of electrical hazards and enhance the visual appeal of the city by minimizing clutter from overhead lines.

During the meeting, officials emphasized the importance of this project in ensuring a safer and more organized urban environment. Local business leaders expressed their support for the initiative, recognizing its potential to improve both safety and the overall market experience for vendors and customers alike.
