Businessman crushed to death by lorry near Panitanki, tension grips area

Kharibari, 10th May: A tragic road accident near Panitanki’s Quarter More on Asian Highway 2 (AH2) claimed the life of a businessman, triggering widespread tension in the area. The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Biswajit Das, a resident of Rathkhola in Naxalbari.

According to local sources, the incident occurred on Friday night while Das was returning home from Panitanki. As he reached Quarter More, a lorry coming from the opposite direction ran over him, killing him on the spot.

Following the accident, a large police contingent from Naxalbari and Kharibari Police Stations arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. The body was first taken to Naxalbari Hospital and later sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the fatal mishap.
