Kharibari, 17th May: In a significant operation, Kharibari police seized a tractor loaded with sand on charges of illegal sand mining and smuggling from the Dumuria River area of Kharibari.
According to police sources, the operation was carried out following a tip-off regarding illegal sand transportation activities along the Dumuria River. During the raid, police found preparations underway to smuggle sand using a tractor.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the sand was allegedly being transported to Bihar. However, upon noticing the arrival of the police, the driver and the helper abandoned the vehicle and fled scene.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are trying to trace those involved in the illegal operation.
