Firearm recovered near India-Nepal border in Kharibari; police launch investigation

Kharibari, 23rd May: An illegal firearm was recovered once again from the border area in Kharibari, near the India-Nepal border, triggering concern in the region.

According to sources, locals spotted a country-made firearm wrapped in a black plastic bag lying near the SSB camp at Gaur Singh Jote. Following this, police were informed immediately.

Acting on the information, personnel from Panitanki Outpost under Kharibari Police reached the spot and recovered the firearm, which was later taken to the police station.

Police have started an investigation to trace the origin of the weapon and how it reached the area.
