Jalpaiguri, 16th May: A fire incident occurred at the residence of Rajganj’s defeated Trinamool Congress candidate Swapna Barman, triggering concern in the Patkata Gram Panchayat area of Ghoshpara in Jalpaiguri.
According to information, Swapna Barman has two houses in Ghoshpara. She resides with her family in one of them, while the other house reportedly caught fire on Friday night around 8:30 pm. The incident came to light after she posted about it on her Facebook account, which created panic in the locality.
On receiving the alert, a fire engine rushed to the spot. Due to heavy rainfall at the time, the flames reportedly did not spread extensively outside the structure. Firefighters managed to bring the situation under control quickly.
Swapna Barman has alleged that the fire may have been deliberately set, claiming that she has been receiving threats since the elections. She also remarked, “Entering politics was a mistake,” drawing further attention to the incident.
