TMC leader Anubrata Mandal who has been recently arrested for cattle smuggling case was produced in the court to appeal for bail plea. The court rejected his plea for bail and has ordered 14 days more jail custody of the TMC district councilor of Birbhum in the cattle smuggling case. Anubrata Mandal’s lawyer applied for bail on any terms and conditions.

Reportedly, the judge sought to know the progress in the investigation of the case and thus cited it as the reason for keeping Anubrata Mandal in custody. The CBI counsel said that evidence has been found of the Minister’s linkage with Inamul, the main accused in the cow smuggling case.

The CBI counsel said that the people of Anubrata Mandal used to threaten customs officials for smuggling cows. After this, the court rejected the bail application of the accused Minister and ordered him to appear in court again after 14 days on September 21.
