Tension flared in Naxalbari over poster vandalism, four arrested

Naxalbari, 09th April: Tension erupted in Naxalbari following allegations of poster vandalism, leading to clashes between supporters of the Trinamool Congress and the BJP. Four individuals were arrested in connection with the incident.

According to sources, BJP workers were accused of tearing down Trinamool Congress posters in the Roypara area. The situation soon escalated into a scuffle between supporters of both parties, triggering unrest in the locality.

After hours of tension, central forces and police conducted a joint operation at night to restore normalcy and bring the situation under control.

Two BJP workers and two Trinamool Congress workers were arrested. The accused have been identified as BJP’s Dipta Roy and Sagar Roy, and Trinamool Congress’s Bashistha Prasad and Santu Roy.

They will be produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court. Police have registered cases under various sections. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
