“During a discussion with the BMOH at the Mirik Sub-divisional Hospital, he informed me about the acute shortage of doctors, nurses, safai karmacharis, and other staff at the hospital. He also informed me on the need for establishing a full-fledged hospital here,” he stated in a statement.

Bista assured the BMOH to take up the matter with the state Health Secretary. He also ensured to highlight the issue of recruiting adequate doctors, nurses and other staff at the earliest.

As the Panighatta PHC does not have any water connection, Bista assured to help them by constructing a boring well to ensure the availability of water. He also assured to write to the concerned departments for the improvement of basic infrastructure and equipment at the hospital.

In all the three hospitals, lack of staff and basic equipment like X-Ray Machine, Ultrasound facility, CT Scan, etc is acting as an impediment in rendering quality healthcare to the people. As a result, people are forced to travel to distant cities for seeking treatment.

“I strongly feel that it is the need of the hour to upgrade the existing healthcare facilities and that the State Government should provide adequate manpower, infrastructure, and equipment in our hill hospitals. Doing so will ensure that our people will not have to travel distant cities for treatment. From my side, I have contributed Oxygen Concentrators and some essential medical supplies including, Oximeters, PPE kits, Masks, Sanitization machines, etc to help in the treatment of COVID patients,” he added.
