News Desk: Former Rajganj BDO Prashant Barman has been arrested by police in connection with an alleged hit-and-run incident in New Town, Kolkata. On Monday night, he is accused of hitting a pedestrian with his car near the Eco Park police station area.

According to reports, when a local resident tried to stop his vehicle after the incident, he allegedly became aggressive, verbally abused the person, and threatened to assault him. Traffic police personnel who arrived at the spot to conduct a breathalyzer test were also allegedly threatened. Police later detained him and took him to the police station, where he was arrested.

It is also reported that his name had earlier surfaced in connection with an alleged murder case involving a gold trader, and he had reportedly been absconding since then. He is further accused of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
