Young Indians launched its Sikkim Chapter on Tuesday, 26th January 2021. Owing to its continuous efforts to strengthen its presence across the country, and especially the North Eastern part of India, Yi Sikkim plays a very important role.

Yi Sikkim Chapter was launched over a virtual platform today which witnessed the presence of the National and Regional Leadership with members from across its 54 chapters joining in. Mr Saurabh Sureka, Yi Regional Chair – East, gave a presentation about Yi and its initiatives across the 3 pillars – Nation Building, Youth Leadership and Thought Leadership, that Yi works upon.

The importance of strengthening Yi in Sikkim was put forward by Mr Abanis Nayak, Chapter Launch Champion – East. Mr Kartik Shah, National Chairman, Young Indians in his address outlined the vision of the organisation and also unveiled the launch video for Yi Sikkim. Ms Smita Agarwal, National Vice Chair was also present during the chapter launch. Mr Rewaj Chettri was announced as the Chapter Chair and Mr Rahul Khandelwal as the Chapter Co-chair for Yi Sikkim for 2021. Mr Rewaj Chettri who hails from Gangtok is the founder of NE Taxi, NE Origins and Sikkim Farms. He is a serial entrepreneur who has business interests in India, Nepal, Bhutan & Sri Lanka.

Mr Rahul Khandelwal who also hails from Gangtok is the founder of Voyage Hospitality. He has done Masters in Marketing from the prestigious Liverpool University. He is engaged in the management contracts of hotel properties located in Siliguri and North East for over 10 years now. Mr Lekh Ram Nyoliwala, Chair – Yi Siliguri, highlighted about how Yi Siliguri and Yi Sikkim can together work in the region to empower lives & create an impact in the social as well as entrepreneurial ecosystem across the region.

Mr Piyush Garg, Chair – Project Masoom, closed the session by introducing the founding members of Yi Sikkim and encouraging the youth of Sikkim to join Yi and be a part of this wonderful movement called Young Indians – to converge, lead, co-create and influence India’s future.

Young Indians(Yi), founded in the year 2002, is a movement to converge, lead, cocreate & influence India’s future. Yi is an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) that aims to realize the dream of a developed nation. The organisation currently has a presence in over 54 cities across the nation with over 3200 direct members and 29500 Yuva Members from over 131 leading educational institutions across the nation.
