Alipurduar, 18th April: In a major breakthrough, forest officials from the Buxa Tiger Project seized Burma teak wood worth crores of rupees that was being smuggled under the guise of glass bottles. The smuggling attempt was foiled following a tip-off.

According to reports, on Friday morning, officials and personnel from the Nimati Range of the Buxa Tiger Project intercepted a truck on National Highway No. 31 in Nimati under Kalchini Block. Upon conducting a search, they discovered a large quantity of high-value timber concealed beneath a layer of glass bottles.

Forest officials were reportedly stunned by the scale of the illegal consignment. The truck driver, however, managed to flee the scene during the operation.
