Scooty stolen from outside house in Siliguri; accused arrested within five days

Siliguri, 15th August: Matigara Police arrested a man and recovered a stolen scooty within five days in connection with a theft case reported from the area. The arrested accused has been identified as 24-year-old MD Salman Ali, a resident of Devidanga.

According to police, a scooty belonging to Prem Biswas was stolen from in front of his house gate at Baba Loknath Colony on the morning of August 7. Biswas subsequently lodged a complaint at Matigara Police Station on August 8.

During the investigation, police conducted a raid in the Simultala area on Friday night and arrested Salman Ali. Following interrogation, police recovered the stolen scooty based on information provided by the accused.

Police said the accused had been working at Matigara IT Park for around three months and was living in a rented house in Simultala. A bicycle theft case is also reportedly registered against him at Pradhan Nagar Police Station.

The accused was produced before the Siliguri court on Saturday. Further investigation into the case is underway.
