Siliguri, 09th April: Amid escalating political tensions over a poster dispute, BJP candidate Shankar Ghosh surrendered before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court and was granted unconditional bail.
According to sources, the case was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by Panitanki Outpost Officer-in-Charge Nirmal Kumar Das. Police booked Shankar Ghosh and several BJP workers under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for allegedly obstructing police duties, misbehaving with an officer on duty, and issuing threats.
It is to be noted that the controversy intensified after police visited the residence of a BJP worker to investigate a complaint lodged by Trinamool Congress candidate Gautam Deb regarding the poster dispute. During the visit, Shankar Ghosh reportedly reached the spot and engaged in a heated argument with OC Nirmal Kumar Das, leading to a tense situation and the subsequent registration of an FIR.
