MoS Anandamay Barman inaugurates Block Public Health Unit in Naxalbari

Naxalbari, 01st August: Minister of State (MoS) for Finance and Transport Anandamay Barman inaugurated a Block Public Health Unit at Naxalbari Rural Hospital. The new facility will provide various blood tests under one roof, reducing the need for patients to visit outside centres for diagnostic services.

The inauguration programme was attended by Darjeeling Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) Dr Tulsi Pramanik and other officials. As part of the programme, food was also distributed among patients undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Anandamay Barman said the Block Public Health Unit has been inaugurated and its trial run is currently underway. He stated that tests prescribed by doctors will now be conducted at the facility, helping patients avoid going elsewhere for examinations.

The minister informed that the building was constructed at a cost of around Rs 66 lakh, while equipment worth Rs 20 lakh has been installed. Around 40 to 50 types of blood tests will be available at the unit.

He also said that Ayushman Bharat cards will soon be provided to the public and claimed that an AIIMS facility will be established as per the state budget. He further mentioned plans to set up a separate Ayush department in the future.
