Siliguri, 18th December: The Darjeeling District Unit of Maheshwari Mahila Mandal marked its silver jubilee year with a unique and humanitarian initiative, choosing social service as the medium to celebrate 25 years of its journey.

As part of the initiative, the organisation took responsibility for solemnising the marriages of 25 economically underprivileged couples. The mass marriage ceremony was conducted following full Hindu rituals, accompanied by the sound of shehnai and a grand community feast.

The special occasion witnessed remarkable enthusiasm and participation from members of the Maheshwari Mahila Mandal. Organisers stated that while anniversary celebrations are usually marked with cultural programmes and festivities each year, the silver jubilee was deliberately commemorated in a different manner to make it truly meaningful.
