Jalpaiguri, 06th August: Jalpaiguri Municipality has taken preventive measures against dengue by releasing Guppy fish in drains, sewers and water bodies across the city to destroy mosquito larvae.
According to municipality sources, 26 dengue cases were reported in the Jalpaiguri Municipality area last year, while three cases have been reported this year so far. The number of dengue cases in the district has also reached close to 100, following which the administration has taken precautionary measures.
As part of the initiative, around 46,000 Guppy fish were released into various water bodies across the city in the first phase on Thursday.
