Siliguri, 04th June: A complaint has been filed at the Siliguri Cyber Crime Police Station against former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over alleged controversial remarks, triggering political and legal debate in the region.

Advocate Rinku Chatterjee Singh has submitted a written complaint alleging that statements made by Mamata Banerjee from a protest platform at Dharmatala could impact national security and India–Bangladesh relations.

According to the complaint, the remarks also raise concerns over the credibility and impartiality of constitutional institutions, including the Election Commission and central forces deployed during election duties. It further alleged that such statements could create distrust among the public.

The complaint further refers to a speech delivered on 2 June in Kolkata, where she allegedly made references to confidential discussions linked to the Union Home Ministry and mentioned a high-profile murder case in Bangladesh, which the complainant claims could affect India’s international image.

The advocate has sought action under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), stating that the remarks could also impact minority security in neighbouring countries. She has indicated that the matter may be escalated to the Calcutta High Court if required.

This is not the first complaint filed by the advocate against Mamata Banerjee, as similar allegations were made earlier over her public statements. The matter has now sparked fresh political discussion in West Bengal.
