Census 2027 begins in Jalpaiguri, self-enumeration phase to continue till 15 August

Jalpaiguri, 01st August: The Census 2027 process officially began in Jalpaiguri on Saturday with the formal launch of the programme at the Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad Auditorium.

The inauguration programme was attended by Jalpaiguri District Magistrate Aditi Chaudhary, Superintendent of Police, MP Jayanta Kumar Roy, MLAs, and officials from various government departments.

The administration informed that the self-enumeration phase will continue from 01st August to 15th August. During this period, citizens will be able to register their details online from their homes.

District Magistrate Aditi Chaudhary said that all preparations for the Census have been completed in Jalpaiguri district. A total of 5,034 enumerators and 785 supervisors have been appointed for the exercise. Their training has been completed and necessary kits have also been distributed.

Speaking at the event, MP Jayanta Kumar Roy said that the Census is being conducted in the country after nearly 15 years and that the fully digital process will help reduce errors. He urged citizens to actively participate in the Census process.
