Siliguri, 22nd June: A demand for the formation of a new board at Siliguri Municipal Corporation has gained momentum, with 24 Trinamool Congress councillors expressing their support and forwarding a letter to the State Government through the Municipal Commissioner.
The decision was taken during an important meeting held at the corporation on Monday. Councillors present at the meeting reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the current administrative situation and stressed the need for a new board to be constituted at the earliest.
According to the councillors, a fully functional board is essential to make civic services more effective and responsive. They argued that the formation of a new board would help improve governance and accelerate decision-making related to public welfare.
